The OpenTarget shell extension brings the same functionality to XP, adding an entry to your context menu when you right-click a shortcut to Open Target Folder. Clicking it takes you directly to the folder containing the file. This handy little extension may not be for everyone, but if you spend much time chasing down shortcuts, it's a nice tool to bring XP up to speed with Vista.
Add Open Target Folder Option To Windows Explorer Context Menu [via FreewareGenius]

FuenteJuan C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/15292244602415351947noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20117750.post-10545771803144018922007-12-21T10:02:00.000-08:002007-12-21T10:18:27.885-08:00Windows Movie Maker Activarrun: Gpedid.msc
Computer configuration> administrative templates>Windows components>Windows movie maker

User: 12345
Pw: 12345
Conf. Placing the 2Wire in to Bridge Mode effectively disables all routing functions, NAT, DHCP, and anything else beyond Layer 2. This is accomplished by going to Management and Diagnostic Console (MDC) section at page Advanced- Configure Services (»homeportal/tech/configuration.html) and then UNCHECKING the Routing Enabled box. Make sure you follow and understand the Warnings on that page before you uncheck the box so you will be aware of how to get back into the 2Wire as disabling routing will possibly change the 2Wires IP address and subnet.

SourceJuan C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/15292244602415351947noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20117750.post-47756274014388356772007-08-31T13:24:00.000-07:002007-08-31T13:26:45.499-07:00Save a web page as an image

While we wait for the option to save a web page as a PDF, due by Firefox 3 final release, there is another option for sharing and archiving web pages. Save As Image, is a simple yet useful Firefox extension developed by Rowan Lewis that adds an option to Save Page as Image to the File menu.

When you select it you have the option to select a particular area of it and tweak it manually with dedicated text boxes provided. At least in theory. The selection overlay that should appear over the actual web page image, appears below it which makes it useless. I’ve contacted Rowan on this and hopefully he will take some time to either fix it or remove the selection features and make it a simpler save-whole-page extension.

With options to choose the image format (JPG/PNG) and image quality I find it extremely useful and, even with the image large size (specially when saving as PNG), still a better alternative to HTML versions that I would like to see available by default in Firefox as another option in the Save Page As… dialog. Being only 10KB (including the user interface) it shouldn’t be a big overhead. Options to save several tabs in a single animated PNG (which will be enormous) and a grayscale would be great to have as well.

Fuete: LINK

Get it at Mozilla Add-ons

Juan C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/15292244602415351947noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20117750.post-61045635209833592452007-07-06T13:31:00.000-07:002007-07-06T13:34:50.981-07:00Create custom Windows keyword launchersLinkJuan C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/15292244602415351947noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20117750.post-57417398347307686072007-05-06T13:07:00.000-07:002008-12-11T20:24:33.378-08:00Reduce the File Size Of PowerPoint PresentationsYou can however significantly decrease the size of PowerPoint presentations in some simple steps:

1. Click the Compress Picture button (available in Picture Tools Format ribbon of PowerPoint 2007) and select "Options". Now choose Email (96 ppi) as the target output and click OK. This should change all the pictures used in your Presentation to an optimal size.

(For PowerPoint XP and 2003, the "Compress Picture" setting can be accessed from the Picture Toolbar or by right-clicking any image used in the PPT and selecting "Format Picture". Choose the Web setting.)

The picture compression trick should solve most of your PowerPoint file size woes. If the issue still persists, read the next two tips.

2. Incase you are using any BMP wallpapers or scanned TIFF images in the PowerPoint presentation, convert them to JPG and reinsert.

3. Are there any audio mp3 file or movie clips embedded in the Presentation slides. You may upload them on a website (like Twango) and place a hyperlink in your presentation.

Your PowerPoint Presentation should now be light and more manageable. The other solution is to use Scribd or Slideshare where your friends can even download the original PPT file or watch it online as a Flash object.

FuenteJuan C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/15292244602415351947noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20117750.post-66466833093679704722007-05-04T12:08:00.001-07:002007-05-04T12:08:59.180-07:00Application and Boot file Defrag
This type of defrag pushes all commonly used programs and boot files to the edge of the hard drive for faster access. There are 37 applications in total! A complete list can be found below.

Download and Install

To get the PC Repair System system, simply download PCRepairSystem.zip and extract the contents to any USB drive 32 MB or greater. Remove the USB drive from your system and plug it back in. "Windows Genuine Advantage"[edit: I stand corrected, it has nothing to do with WGA] with its "Product Activation" requirement. Essentially, even with a valid product key, you still need to activate your Windows to ensure that only one computer is using that specific product key. If you can't activate your Windows, there being many reasons for this, you are left with a 30 day grace period to change your product key to one that is fully valid or get in contact with Microsoft and plea your case.

Once your grace period is up, Windows refuses to let you login anymore. You cannot access your files. You cannot go on the Internet. You cannot do anything, except the thrill of trying to activate Windows.

Well, luckily for me I do not have to worry about this issues, as my Windows is valid and activated. However, for those who do not and have been so unfortunate enough to have their Windows expire on them, I present to you a bit of relief. How to gain access to your files on an expired Windows, with even enough functionality to surf the web, talk on MSN Messenger, and load up most of your applications. It doesn't give you full functionality of Windows, but it will be enough to get the job done until you can find the time to activate your Windows. Best of all though, it's all very simple and easy to do!!!

First, turn on your computer and wait until you get to the Windows login screen.

Next, click to login as usual. You should get an error from Windows telling you that your Windows has expired and is asking whether you would like to activate Windows now. Click Yes.

A "Let's activate Windows" window will appear. Let's minimize it. DO NOT close it.

Now, hold down the Windows Key on your keyboard while you also press the "U" key. This will open up the Narrator program to help assist those with poor vision. It is this program that will help us login to our Windows.

Click the little computer icon in the top left hand side of the Narrator window. A drop down menu should appear. The last option in this menu is named "About Narrator...". Click it. This should open up another window called "About Narrator".

In this window, there should be the text "Microsoft Web site". Click it, as it is a link and will open up your Internet Explorer, taking you to the Microsoft Accessibility website. Howrah! Internet access!

As if Internet was not enough, in the address bar of Internet Explorer, type "c:\". This should display all your hard drive contents on drive "C". From there you can load navigate your way around your computer, loading specific programs, and most whatever else.

Some common directories as to where you can find personal files and programs are:

C:\program filesC:\documents and settings\username\DesktopC:\documents and settings\username\DocumentsC:\documents and settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\

On a side note, certain programs cannot be opened while Windows is still not activated. You will also not have a Task Bar at the bottom of your screen, as trying to open it will just result in it shutting itself down a few moments later. MSN Messenger works though, as well as most other non-Windows-based components.

Disclaimer: I do not applaud piracy, but I do feel people should have access to their personal files, regardless of whether Windows has expired or not. This tutorial should not be used to bypass Windows Activation, nor does it restore full Windows functionality, but I provide it to those who are in desperate need of accessing files that are suddenly lost to them through the Microsoft Genuine Advantage activation system.
[Update: some say it works even better with Vista, as the explorer.exe does not close shortly after you try to open it as it does in XP. Unconfirmed.]

Photos. When you call him back it's impossible to tell what's going wrong. If only you were looking over his shoulder - except he's states away.

Almost a year ago I wrote a tutorial on how to remote control a computer over the internet using a VNC (Virtual Network Computing) server and viewer. Well, talking Grandpa through the server installation is not an option. However, UltraVNC Single Click is a small, standalone server you can email Grandpa that he can run in - you guessed it - a single click. Here's how to set up a Single Click VNC server that will let you remote control Grandpa's computer over the internet with no configuration on his part.

Warning: This tutorial requires some comfort with networking concepts and VNC. If you haven't already, check out How to remote control your home computer as an introduction to how VNC works before you try this out.

What you need

2 Windows computers. Grandpa must have a Windows PC and so must you. [1]

An open port 5500 accessible from the internet. Grandpa's mini server is going to initiate a connection to the viewer listening on your computer. Before you get started, make sure port 5500 on your computer's IP address is reachable. If you're behind a router or firewall, open up that port to allow access. See also: how to access a home server behind a firewall.

How SingleClick UltraVNC works

In a normal VNC server/viewer setup, the viewer contacts the VNC server to log in and remote control it. With SingleClick Ultra VNC, the opposite happens: the server is pre-configured to contact a viewer at a specified IP address, as shown:

The advantage here is that Grandpa (the person running the server) doesn't have to worry about opening ports on his computer or firewall - since the server makes the call out, the connection can happen regardless. This switch can be used for other Windows applications and also many third party programs.

Example #1

You have AOL 8.0 installed on the computer. Complete the steps outlined bewlo to add the /prefetch:1 switch to AOL's Target path.

1. Right click on the AOL shortcut and select properties from the menu.

2.
